Welcome to my blog on the remains of the industrial revolution

The industrial revolution in the UK changed the face of the landscape from the 1760s onwards. During he second half of the 20th century, with the introduction of cheap imports of various commodities, and events such as the miner’s strike in the 1980s, much of the industry that was known in the UK died out and left buildings and changes to the landscape that stand as monuments to those who built them, those died working them and to a time period that changed the world.

My own interest in industrial history came from spending a lot of time around steam engines, but also discovery old mines, quarries, buildings, museums and other relics of the industrial revolution.

This is going to be a collection of my pictures of these monuments, and the way that some of these have been preserved for future generations in the UK.
